Tea Tree and Bug Bites – an “itchy” story

I took my little bottle of Tea Tree oil and a Q-tip and began applying it at 11:30pm last night after my bug bites (still not sure what variety they are) fleas, mosquito, spider… and in no time, I was feverishly rubbing the oil on with that little Q-tip not for application purposes but rubbing in a way that if it were my finger nails would have left my skin bleeding! Ahhh… the underestimation of insect poison.

It was definitely a wiser choice than scratching because if I had scratched, I would have removed layers of skin from the itchy, warm burning that plagues us when we’ve been bitten.

POINT (there is one): Today, the bites are less red, less swollen and I’m not itching. Well…at least I wasn’t until I started this post (off to grab the Tea Tree oil)!

Halloween Chipboard Album #1

Okay so here is post #1 of an exciting project I’m looking forward to completing before cute, little, costume-ridden kids come knocking on my door for candy – (61 more days)!

I promise I won’t hide upstairs with the lights out because all I have are water crackers and beef jerky either, you have my word. My ultimate goal for this album is to have it represent all the spooky elements of Halloween as well as the fun, kid-centric aspects. I’ll be using fun, bright patterned paper, tons of embellishments and I’m forcing myself to incorporate technique, technique, technique. I really love the traditional colors and patterns used together for Halloween: orange, purple, lime green, black, polka dots, harlequin, even plaids now!  Love IT!

The picture you see here is step #1 of painting the edges of the large chipboard album pages with black acrylic craft paint so that when (dun, dun, dun) 12×12 paper is placed, covers the page and voila!

I have a few edges to clean up because I stacked the “dry” pages on top of one another and because of the heat and humidity… A few edges stuck together. Lesson learned.

Stay tuned for next steps and the final result.

Props: I would like to mention my inspiration for this Halloween Album, awesome Belinda… {grin} http://youtu.be/Jny3Q5FDMws

Greetings! Another sketch challenge from Waltzingmouse here… I decided to “march to a different drum” this week and do a 12×12 fall themed layout. I hope you like it!

Stamp sets used:

Ovals – Classic Frames

Teeny Trees (which is currently out of stock), must be popular! There are so many possibilities with this awesome set…

Bitty Banners

Blessed by You

Paper Collection Used:

Night and Fall by Recollections – Michael’s Craft Stores

Twine Used:

Button Twine from Waltzingmouse in Natural

The stamping process:

I decided to stay true to the sketch so there are minimal stamped embellishments, what I did add, I had a really good time creating though – {grin}

The layout lends itself to a quandrant split where pics can be added to the four corners. This project makes me ready for turkey and some Apple Pie, howboutyou?

I love playing along here for the weekly sketch challenge… Such talent and beautiful products to create with.

Hawaiian Themed Wedding Card

Aloha! Making this card at the request of a freind who needed a Hawaiian themed wedding card – stat was pretty cool.  I responded “I have the perfect stamp set for this”! Likity split, it was made and in the mail in 1 day. I had fun making this casual but special card. I purposely made the border a little off center. Using Tim Holtz Distress Markers carefully in Spiced Marmalade around the polka dotted stamp border I placed it askewed for a “chillaxed” effect. See if you can spot it.

12×12 DCWV & Waltzing Mouse Stamps Layout

Hello blog readers!!  I’m so excited to finally dive into 12×12 layouts – after exclusively making cards, mini albums and altered projects for the past year.

I’m participating in two fun events with this BIRTHDAY themed layout. I used DCWV “Playtime” paper stack with its glittered, fun, rustic/outdoor images. I love the kraft color background on all these adorable papers and the glitter elements too! All stamping was done with Waltzingmouse Stamp sets in the following fabulous and versatile collections:

“Afternoon Tea Sentiments”

“Bitty Banners”

“Teeny Trees”

“Half Pint Heros”

“Playful Pinwheels”

Here are links to DCWV and Waltzingmouse Stamps – DCWV is a skecth challenge and Waltzingmouse is a blog party (my first to particiapte in)!

More Christmas cards, here I come!

It’s the first Saturday of the month, and that means it’s time for a new challenge with the Stampendous team!  This month to kick things off on World Card Making Day, we’re looking towards the holidays AND keeping it Clean and Simple. That’s right – we’re making Clean and Simple (CAS) holiday cards!!  You’ll see a few team members showing off more than one card today; some chose to make one CAS and then take that design and “step it up”.  Others made sets of CAS holiday cards to give as gifts or use to make a dent in the Christmas (or other holiday!!) card list.

But first…the winner from September’s Sketch Challenge!! We’d love to congratulate our randomly chosen winner – ArtyCarty!!!  Congratulations! We loved your card with buttons on it, and now you’ll have a fantastic stamp set to use on your next challenge entry. Email…

Waltzing Mouse Sketch Challenge #110

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I decided to get a jump on a Christmas card by using this sketch from the weekly WMS Stamp Sketch Challenge as an opportunity! Never to early to plan ahead (she says as she’s surrounded by spooky Halloween themed embellishments and black glitter). Mwwwahahaha.

OK, down to biz…

I used the adorable WMS Stamp Sets: Nutcracker Sweet and Paris Nouveau, a border from K&Co., the turquoise print paper from Graphic 45, three little Christmas themed button embellishments from Dress It Up Button Co. and seam binding from Paper Loves Glue’s Etsy shop in Candy Apple Red, I also gained inspiration on the tying of the bow from Kim (Paper Loves Glue).

Truth be told, this is not my favorite card but I love, love sketch and I’m forever a fan of red & turquoise together.
