Scrapping Everyday Miracles – February Main Challenge #25- Home

COLLEEN’S POST

So here is my project for the SEM February Challenge which makes me ask, ya, where do I feel most at home (aside from home)?

It was simple for me to answer this – where I grew up, where the phone number is still the same and there are still some citrus trees near the ranch despite all the development… My journal tag reads: “Home to me is where I grew up in the farming and citrus town of Santa Paula, CA. The old style Ranch house was built by my great, great, great grandfather. My mom decorates the dining room table for the holidays with a mix of family heirlooms, curious finds and more. It’s always a treat to visit, especially when he house is festive and reflective our heritage of hardworking Americans enjoying life’s simple pleasures.”

Paper collection – Prima’s Meadow Lark (thanks Kathy)

Clay flowers – Kathy’s Stash from her new molds she’s been experimenting with.

Photo – a little hard to see the whole picture, so I’m adding full pics

What’s Sweet, Pink & Doubles as Decor?

A 7 Gypsies Artist Printer’s Tray! Each holiday can be shown off by adorning this 12 slotted tray with ATCs (small trading card sized decorative pieces of paper) or chipboard adorned with paper. I did some embossing with Valentine themed powders and stamped lace from Waltzingmouse stamps as well as the sentiments. Then I added a white picket fence with glue dots so it can easily be removed and tied a ribbon and little glass bottle of glitter to the top which I added last.

It’s very festive sitting on top of my mantle.

Storage Idea

As a crafter, you can never run out of creative ways to store things. This particular storage solution was born out of necessity (like most things)…

I went to my local Tuesday Morning and found this adorable drink dispenser with the intention of using for iced tea, fruit infused water, etc… However, when I assembled it, filled it up and began to use it, it leaked!

The rest is history and I decided to store my seam binding and raw twine in it. I love the idea, it makes me happy. Especially since I paid under $6 for it on sale.

A Little Valentine for the Boss

Hi bloggers! Many of you know, I instruct paper crafting at Michaels where I live. So typically I find great deals and see new stuff when it comes in.

I found these really adorable (alterable) balsa wood boxes perfect for treats. I decided to kiss-up to the boss (ha, ha) by making her one adorned with patterned paper, embellishments and fill it with treats! I really like these little boxes, they’re easy to embellish and fun to make. They are a step up from paper boxes because they have a more solid feel to them.

DSCN2462 Rear View – covered entire box with Basic Grey’s “Kissing Booth” DSCN2464Hanging View – I adorned the box with embellishments using Recollections brand from Michaels. Also, I used some fussy cut ephemera from K&Co.’s Valentine Themed paper called “Cupid’s Specialty Paper Pad” as well as a Spellbinder’s Die Cut.
