A Tribute to a Father who served

This Shadowbox was such an honor to put together. I was asked to work my magic on the existing elements in the shadow box and make it nice and memorable. I spent one day putting this together and am really happy with the result. I used BoBunny’s Anthem paper collection and really loved the layering to bulk up the framing of the photos and pieces. I had some clear star stick pins from one of my trips out to Valencia’s Remember When (no longer in business) 😦 and they worked great to anchor the medals to the back of the box. I used the alpha letters from the collection sticker sheet to spell “dad” as well. I used some red, white & blue ribbon with stars wrap around the side of one of the photographs. I also used some red and white striped washi tape. I think I got the ribbon at Michaels in the $1 bin! What a lovely tribute piece to a beloved family member to display and enjoy. God Bless America! We need it…photo 4 photo 3_3 photo 3_2 photo 2_3 photo 2_2 photo 2 photo 1_3 photo 1_2 photo 1_1

Card with Tag Feature

Well hello!

You may be asking “Is that a card with a removable tag that has a hidden vellum pocket with tiny stamped tags stuffed inside?” Yes!

I began with cutting some of the new Wplus9 dies and decided to make a special card for a “special someone”. I started with a card base in bright white, layered some 6×6 card stock I had laying around in the colors I wanted, affixed the die cut frame from Wplus9 with dimensional foam tape,

here, I chose a tag and some hand dyed seam binding, and planned the arrangement of the card.

I’m not sure why this pic reflects the card stock so orange… It’s a subtle coral as shown in pic #12 3

In these next three steps I chose the vellum pocket, rounded the edges with my new corner rounder (that I absolutely love) and adhered it to the backside of the tag with my ATG.

Then it was time to punch out some card stock with my assorted sized tag punch and choose which stamp set I wanted to use.

5

Ya, I’m liking it 🙂

6

Oh, the tags look so cute in that little pocket! Yay!!7

In these next steps I stamped my sentiments in Rich Cocoa by Memento and then stuffed the little tags into the vellum pocket on the back of my big tag then situated the finished tag into the card’s leaves.

And finally, I adhered the word Imagine (from a die cut set I do not know the maker of, I’m sorry, if you know, please tell me!), they were purchased from eBay. Then I lined the inside of my card with heavy weight card stock by Paper Trey Ink then proceeded to stamp the coral colored, small, hand-cut, banner with the words Top Priority from Heidi Swapp, signed the card and embellished the envelope closure with a gem.

Voila!

30 for Her 30th

“30 Cards for her 30th Birthday” he said. I received an order from a friend for his girlfriend Jill. I never thought that making that many cards in a two week period would have been possible! It was such a great challenge. I had a list of things she likes and enjoys then went for it.  I honestly think I  do my best work when I am given specific requests, especially thematic ones.

I used a mix of collections, embellishments, stamp sets and trim for the cards. I hope you enjoy!

Winter Wonderland Card from Mom – she did it again!

I have seen this card floating around for about 2 years now. It may be older, I’m not sure, but however old it is, it really struck a cord in me and I knew I wanted to make my own version of it. (CASE it) So, here is my version. One thing I will tell you is, it was very messy to make! I still have glitter and flocking in my hair!! LOL

All you need to do one of your own is:

Stamper’s Select White Cardstock (40 Sheets) – Paper Trey Ink
Deer Trio Die – Memory Box
Birch Trio Die – Memory Box (trees)
Resting Birds Die – Memory Box
and one truck load of white flocking & glitter!

Afternoon Tea Shaker Card by WMS Stamps

Written by mom:
“Well, everyone loves a good cup of tea, don’t they? ( Shuffle, ball, change – Badumpbum! )
This card was created with Waltzing Mouse Stamps, Afternoon Tea Set. This is a set I have waited a long time to use just because I don’t usually have time to make cards, even though I think I have every stamp set ever made! I like to pair up my stamp sets when I do make a card. I am one of those people that painstakingly creates and it is like giving birth to me! Finally Graphic 45 came out with the perfect paper for that lovely little mousey stamp set, Botanical Tea! It was a match made in heaven and I knew I could move ahead with this one.
I single cut the tea pot, then double cut the foam for the shaker window. The tea cup was fussy cut just to add a little extra. Found the right tea colored glitter and a card was born! Not much to it but I love the way it turned out. Just paper and the die cut tea pot is all you need, and maybe a real cup of tea! ( Shuffle of to Buffalo – Badumpbum! )”

Mom Did It Again! “You’re a Doll” Shaker Card

Shake, shake, shake…

Shake, shake, shake

Shake your ca-aard, shake your ca-aard

So shaker cards are all the rage now and they are a little more time consuming to make, but boy the result is fantastic! My mom tried her first shaker cards recently and I’m posting them this week on display. This card was such a great idea with the Russian nesting doll stamp set from WMS. I just love the spring take on it too with the floral die cut piece and the monochromatic lavender, purple and grape hues. Please enjoy and feel free to give mom props in the comments {grin}.
