Three Birthday Cards to share!

Hi folks! Back here again to share a few birthday cards I made with Graphic 45’s Couture collection, PTI’s Shakers + Sprinkles Kit and DCWV’s Gilded Paper Stack.

G45 card (4)

This first card, I used a mountain and valley stand-up base in black of course… I then began paper piecing panels of coordinating colors onto the card so it was completely covered and stable. Next I chose what focal points I wanted on the front. The G45 Couture collection has card shaped squares in the 12×12 stack that I chose the front piece from. This square piece is layered and popped up and I angled it after I had adorned the art deco piece with twine and taped it to the back to adhere it. Additionally, I attached a glue dot to the back so it wouldn’t slide around. Next I chose coordinating pieces as focal points for the zig-zag smaller panels to the right then adhered them.

For this next card, I used PTI’s Shakers + Sprinkles Kit with a bright white card base and all the elements included with the kit including the confetti elements, dies in the shape of hearts and the colorful and cheerful background paper. Everything coordinated so nicely with the color palette! First, I laid down the patterned paper with sequin background, then the sunbeam pattern on top in bright fuchsia. I then layered heart silhouette die-cuts in a tired fashion on the front of the card and the last heart that is solid, I popped up on a heart shaped foam cut-out for added dimension. I topped it off with a banner stamped with a Happy Birthday sentiment in archival ink by Ranger and added a toothpick and topped it with teal twine. I’m really happy with the result and so was sweet Alice, the birthday girl. Inside, I placed two of the heart die cuts, one as a pocket and the other as a coupon for a neck & shoulder massage. I know, I know, I’m outdoing some of you here but settle down… ūüėČ

This final card was so full of pizzazz and attitude, I loved making it because of the flair. The black and gold added to the class factor too I think. The sentiment is from PTI and couldn’t have suited the recipient better if I had handwritten it! I started with a black base, cut the paper to size from DCWV’s Gilded Paper Stack. I bought it at Michaels but it’s on sale now at Joanne Fabrics. A snazzy Birthday Card for a snazzy lady.¬†

Michaels Card Making Class

So I taught my class today and had two students that turned out some adorable & really nice cards! ¬†I was so pleased to work with them. ¬†So here are a few snapshots of the finished cards. I share the classroom with our crochet instructor Alice and we always have such a nice time teaching side-by-side. It’s great to have students see other classes in progress. My student got Alice’s crochet class schedule! It works out nice.

Scrapping Everyday Miracles Main Challenge #28 – Guest Designer Post

SEM Main Challenge details & guidelines:

“For this month‚Äôs main challenge we would like you to share a project that represents¬†something new in your life. You can reflect on a new relationship, a new phase of life, an event that brought change into your life, a new job, hobby, volunteer opportunity, or even a book or Scripture verse that has given you new insight. God blesses us with everyday miracles – sometimes big and sometimes small – that bring change and new opportunities to our lives. Your project¬†doesn’t¬†need to be about a recent event, but needs to represent something new in your life.”

SCRAP TWIST: USE SOMETHING ON YOUR PROJECT THAT IS MORE THAN A YEAR OLD – THE OLDER THE BETTER, “AND” SOMETHING NEW TO YOU IN 2013.¬†These supplies may be purchased, given to you, or even found objects. Be sure to tell us in your project blog post what these supplies are.¬†

2 Corinthians 5:17 ‚ÄúTherefore, if anyone¬†is¬†in Christ,¬†he is¬†a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.‚ÄĚ

Hello everyone and I hope all of you moms, mothers, mamas, mums… were showered with love and warmth yesterday! ¬†I just want to say a huge thank you to SEM for inviting me to guest design this month! It is an honor.

For this main challenge I created a 12×12 layout using DCWV new paper stack “Sunday Afternoon”, stamps from Heidi Swapp”Memory File”, Papertrey Inc.’s “Tiny Tags” die cuts & stamp set, chipboard from Michaels (covered with glitter to match layout) and Colobok acrylic pieces “Get well”, which was my old piece from my craft stash. This layout¬†represents¬†a little, sleeping me… ¬†A simpler time when worries were few, days were long with countless laughs & tickles and worries of paying bills and being an adult were nowhere in sight. ¬†I’m learning to live this way now as a 39 year old mother of one. *Bump up the amount of laughs per day = check. *Cast all my cares on Jesus = check. *Realize that¬†living¬†for a paycheck or even great success is an empty dream full of shallow hopes = check. *Extend daily gratitude to my Lord & Savior for His love, sovereignty & will for my life = check. This is new, this is a beautiful way to live! It’s 100% freedom in Christ.
